Result RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Richard Phillips Morris, former Mayor of Salt
Lake City, Utah, departed this life on April 2nd, 1925; and '-
WHEREAS, because of the fact that he served as Mayor of
Salt Lake City, having served two terms as a member of the City
Counsil, three terms as City Treasurer, one term as Mayor of the
City and afterwards was elected and served as a member of the first
Board of Commissioners under the Commission form of government, it
is fitting that this Board of Commissioners should make public
acknowledgment of the long service and splendid record of Mr. Morris;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commis-
sioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, does hereby express on behalf of
the Board and the people of Salt Lake City, their appreciation of
the high character and useful public service of Richard Phillips
Morris. That he enjoyed the confidence of the people of this city
to an unusual degree is attested by the faot that he was seven times
elected by his fellow citizens to public office. In his administra-
tion of public affairs, he was progressive and far sighted, having
inaugurated many of the splendid improvements made necessary by the
growth of the city. In the enlarged water supply system and the miles
of street paving are found evidences of his wisdom and foresight.
He was a oourageous leader and always a temperate and just advisor.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread
upon the minutes of the Board of Commissioners and an engrossed copy
forwarded to the family.
