Keyser C Matheson - - - - McConkie Mr.Chairman - - - _ Y !--_ RES TION Result WHEREAS, George D. Pyper departed this life on January 16, 1943; and WHEREAS, he was one of Utahts leading citizens. H. was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on November 21, 1860, in a little log cabin and began his public life at the early age of fourteen years, being clerk to his father who was then serving as Judge in Salt Lake City, which office he himself later held. He was well 'mown throughout his life for his penman- ship, ability as a writer, a singer and theatre work, having serv- ed as manager of the Salt Lake Theatre for a period of thirty years and as manager of the Salt Lake Tabernacle Choir. He was well known for his civic and church endeavors, being at the time of his death General Superintendent of the Latter Day Saints Deseret Sunday School Union and was known among his associates as a leading exponent of the church sponsored program of building richer, spiritual lives through cultivation of the best in drama, music and other arts. He enjoyed the love and respect of an unusually large host of friends and associates and was cherished by his loving family. His passing is a great loss to the city, its citizens, his church and his friends and associates. N0;., THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commis- sioners of Salt Lake City for and on behalf of the citizens of said city, the members of said Board and the many friends and associates of George D. Pyper does hereby express to the entire family their profound cond..l.ence and deepest sympathy upon the passing of their father and our beloved associate and citizen. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upor the minutes of the Board of Commissioners and that a copy beforwarde to the surviving members of the family of George D. Pyper.
