WHEREAS, a bill has been introduced in the Utah
Legislature, the purpose of which is to permit the
creation of combined city and county health districts,
designed to furnish health services and to adopt health
regulations upon a county-wide basis under one head;
and
WHEREAS, the creation of such county-wide health
districts will provide uniform health services and
regulations extending over all areas of the county,
thereby improving health and sanitation conditions; and
WHEREAS, such health districts will be supported
by county-wide levies thus avoiding double taxation and
spreading the cost thereof equitably upon all areas of
the county serviced by such districts; and
WHEREAS, by having county-wide health districts
supported by county-wide levies, such districts will be
financially able to employ better trained and qualified
personnel than is possible for individual municipalities
to sustain, thereby assuring better administration and
services:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COM-
MISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY that said Board does hereby
endorse the said proposed bill now pending before the
Utah Legislature and urges its passage.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Recorder transmit
a copy of this resolution to the Speaker of the House and
to the President of the Senate of the Utah Legislature.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah, this 31st day of January, 1967.
