Wiesley family deeply appreciate the Resolution of Condolence issued by the Salt Lake City Corporation in honor of our dear Ruey. In Ruey's absence, we express our appreciation for the remarkable cooperation of the Commission she received throughout the many years required to complete her dream of a Peace Garden. Without the aid of the Commission and the many staff members, the great dream would not have come true. Gam / 1 )1( V // / Harrison . . . y/ Mr. Chairman . / V RESOLUTION Result . . . . l OF CONDOLENCE WHEREAS, Ruey Hazlet Wiesley departed this life January 8, 1968; and, WHEREAS, she was a long time resident of Salt Lake City, and, during her residency, she affiliated with and occupied positions of leadership in many civic organizations, among them the Salt Lake Council of Women, the Good Citizens Committee, the Daughters of the American Revolution, American Legion Auxiliary, Ladies' Literary Club, and Utah Girls' State; and, WHEREAS, her efforts in these various organizations greatly benefited the residents of Salt Lake City and were an inspiration to all civic minded persons; and, WHEREAS, she was one of the founders of and acted as Chairman of the International Peace Gardens in Jordan Park in Salt Lake City, which Gardens have become famous throughout the country for their design and beauty and constitute an inspiration to international good will: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY that said Board does hereby express, in its behalf and in behalf of the residents of Salt Lake City, sincere tribute to the life and accomplishments of Mrs. Wiesley and for her great con- tribution to the City of Salt Lake and its residents through the many civic organizations with which she was affiliated and actively supported and led. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said Board does hereby express deep sympathy to the family of Mrs. Wiesley in their time of bereave- ment. The City Recorder is directed to transmit a copy of this resolu- tion to the family of Mrs. Wiesley. 17th Passed by the Board of City Commissioners this day of January, 1968. 9 J.
