OF COMMENDATION
WHEREAS, crime and violence is on the increase throughout the
nation; and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City is greatly interested in a reduction of
crime and violence and greatly interested in insuring the protection
of its citizens from the threat of same; and
WHEREAS, the Honorable Wendell B. Hammond, City Judge of Bountiful,
Utah, did set a high bail bond requirement for a certainperson charged
with his second and third burglaries while being free on bail for a
previous charge for burglary; and
WHEREAS, it is felt that this is a real deterrent to further
crimes being committed by said person; and
WHEREAS, it is possible any further crimes committed by this
person might have been committed in Salt Lake City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF SALT LAKE CITY, on its behalf and on behalf of the residents of
Salt Lake City, that the said Board does hereby express its agreement
with the act of the Honorable Wendell B. Hammond and commends him
for his interests in protecting society.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 27th day of January, 1970.
