RESOLUTION
Result
WHEREAS, Maurice Abravanel has resided in Salt Lake City for
the past thirty years and has made this City his home; and
WHEREAS, throughout the period of his residency in our City he
has proven himself to be a loyal, active and civic-minded citizen
of Salt Lake City; and
WHEREAS, Maurice Abravanel has distinguished himself as music
director and conductor of our Utah Symphony Orchestra over the past
thirty years, guiding its growth and development from a newly founded,
obscure orchestra to its present national and international stature;
and
WHEREAS, his efforts have resulted in favorable worldwide
attention for our City and State which, in turn, translates into
economic and cultural benefits for all of our citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, on the occasion of his 75th birthday we the
Mayor and Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City Corporation
hereby proclaim Friday, January 6, 1978, as
MAURICE ABRAVANEL DAY
and express on behalf of all Salt Lake City residents our warmest
congratulations and heartfelt appreciation for his outstanding
and invaluable contributions to the quality of life in our community.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 5th day of January, 1978.
