RESOLUTION.
Whereas, Senator Carl A. Badger has been reported
the Herald Republican as having used the following language ex
_ o floor of the state senate on February 24, 1911, with
ferenee to the Salt Lake City council, to-wit:
"I am opposed to the council holding up fourteen
licenses while they shake down saleon keepers.. The bill splits
. this point, but under this provision conditions in this city
least will be vastly improved. I have sat in the council
en the proceedings on the question of saloon licenses were a
f co. I an told by a city official that there are five council-
who always vete for the saloon interests, no natter what
es wp. I have gone at times to the council on dates set for
; bearing of matters concerning pretests, only to bo.insultoi..
J dgo 1del.iaster of the juvenile court has made pretests, but all
t no purpose . If we make it a matter of law, it will be
fair to the man who applies for a license and to the community.
Tiis clause should not be interfered with." and
Whereas, such a statement is a reflection on every member
o this council: Now therefore Be It
Resolved: That Senator Badger is hereby requested to
p sent to this eouneii, at its regular meeting one week from
t -night, or at such time as shall be most ocnvenient to him,
t • evidence upon which he bases his charges and statements, if
was eerreo, tly quoted, to the end that if the same are true,
t,e guilty may be known, and that if said charges and state-
mints are net true, that this council and each member thereof
be cleared from such imputation.
Be It further Resolved, that a co his resolution
