RESOLUTION Cr WHEREAS, various and sundry charges have been made against officials of Salt Lake City by the Herald-Republican, a daily news- paper published in this City; and WHEREAS, in its issue of March 3, 1911, said Herald-Repub- lican alleges, among other things, that "Each time licenses expire and are to be issued, it costs the saloon men from $10.00 to $200.00 each to get their license"; and WHEREAS, said publication seems to be endeavoring to so influence the Utah legislature that said legislature will enact a liquor law with provisions which would entirely divest city councils and boards of county commissioners of all power to con trol and regulate the liquor traffio; and � vr� WHEREAS, such legislation, if enacted, would be subversive e D fir^government and vastly injurious to the people: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the legislature is invited eL respeotfully44s earnestly request'investigate at the charges of said Herald-Republican,in its issue of March 3, 1911, and such other charges as have from time to time been made in the columns of said publication against the officials of Salt Lake City, this council assuring said legislature of its hearty desire to assist in such investigation, and assur, usaid legislature that it will Ad be pleased to appoint a committee to meet with fffirencommittee of the legislature for the purpose of making a thorough investigation of any and all of said officials of Salt Lake City or of any, or all, of he• charges which said publication has seen fit to make. 74/ '614?-`16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that at suet investigation the Herald-Republican be requested to appear and present any and all evidence it may have to prove or subst4+ttiate its charges. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to each member of the legislature by the City Recorder of this City.
