Resnit ESOLUTION
1
WHEREAS, on Sunday, July 10th, 1932, in
response to the call of duty, Officer William M. Rogers
of the Police Department was wounded in his right arm by
the shot of a highwayman attempting the holdup of the
Fifteenth East Drug Store, and
WHEREAS, on Saturday, October. 8th, 1932,
Officer O.E. Newman of the Police Department was also
injured in his right arm by a shot from the gun of a
desparate character attempting to pass a "Bad Check" in
the Star Style Shop on Main street, and
WHEREAS, both of these officers were injured
while responding to the call of duty and acting in the
defense of the life and property of the citizens of Salt
Lake and did bravely and unflinchingly thus risk their
lives.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board
of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, that a vote of
thanks be and it is hereby extended to Officers Rogers and
Newman for their heroic and unflinching response to the
call of duty, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of
Commissioners extends its hearty sympathy and sincere
wish for the speedy recovery of Officer 0.E, Newman and
its sincere congratulations to Officer Wm. M. Rogers on
his full recovery from his injury of July 10th; and that
these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of the Board

to be a permanent record of duty well and faithfully
performed;and further that a copy be mailed to both
Officers Win. M.Rogers and O.F. Newman in appreciation
of their brave and manly acts.
