Clark began his service with the Salt Lake Police Department February 1, 1927, and has been a member of the department for more than 40 years; and WHEREAS, during his long tenure of service he has served in many capacities, among them walking a beat, motor patrol, being the first officer to be assigned a car for patrol work, auto theft bureau and vice squad; and WHEREAS, he has won the esteem of his fellow officers evidenced by being the only police officer to serve as President of Utah Peace Officers, Police Mutual Aid and Police Credit Union, and has brought distinction to the department by his singing ability and pistol proficiency; and WHEREAS, during his long tenure of office he has been a devoted and efficient servant of the city and its residents in each capacity in which he has served; and WHEREAS, he is now retiring from his employment with the Police Department: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that said Board does hereby express, in its behalf, and in behalf of the residents of Salt Lake City, sincere and deep gratitude and appreciation for the devoted and able service which Lt. Clark has rendered during his employment in the Salt Lake City Police Department. The Board hereby extends its best wishes to him for happiness and satisfaction during his retirement years. The City Recorder is hereby directed to deliver to Lt. Clark a copy of this resolution. Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, / this 21st day of December, 1967. / J.
