RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the United States of America faces a serious
energy shortage; and
WHEREAS, President Carter has requested the support of all
government units and agencies to reduce fuel consumption; and
WHEREAS, mass transportation is an important tool in the
reduction of energy consumption in urban areas; and
WHEREAS, State Representative Taylor has promoted the
concept of "off peak, no fare" transportation which would
increase the potential use of mass transportation by elderly
and low income persons as well as the general populace;
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Salt Lake City
Commission reaffirms its support of the "off peak, no fare"
