RESOLUTION : WHEREAS , one of the ;:lost pressing needs of Salt Lake City is the acquisition of water; and- EREAS, every opportunity to increase the water supply should 1:e improved; and- `.T EREAS, t_ie GREAT WESTERN ^0I- D AND COPP}R MINING COLPATTY of Utah, owns about two (2) second feet of water in Big Cottonwood Canyon; and- WHEREAS, the said company, by Jesse Knight , its President , has offered to lease said water to Salt Lake City for a period of one year for one dollar; and- WHEREAS , the said company agrees to sell said water to the city at any time during the term of said lease for five thousand dollars., and to defend the city from all claims and disputes regarding the riptt to said water; now therefore be it- RESOLVED, that the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with the said. :.:fining company for the use of said water for a period of one year, nen,:ing further investigation and negotiations in relation to the purchase of same. / t• l'°' Adopted by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, April 16, 1913.
