RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, rumors, private and in the public press, have been in
circulation of late, charging maladministration in municipal affairs
and corruption in the Police Department;
In answer to these aspersions the Board of Commissioners of
this city hereby declares that it is the aim and purpose of the
Commissioners to have and conduct an orderly, moral and honest city
government, protecting all classes who obey the law in their social,
political and legal rights; and to the end that a thorough investi-
gation may be made of all charges and rumors that are or have been
circulated relating to the non-enforcement of the law;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF SALT LAKE CITY:
That said Board on Thursday, the eighth day of July, 1915, at
10:30 A. M., at the Council Chamber in the Joint City and County
Building of Salt Lake City, will sit to investigate the above
mentioned charges and rumors, and to this end said Board calls upon
all citizens who have knowledge or information of any infraction
of the law, or corrupt practices in the Police Department or other
department of the City government, to come forward and furnish the
said Board the evidence or information that will enable the said Board
to discover and ferret out all alleged transgressors;
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that the City Recorder be and he is hereby
authorized and inetfucted to issue subpoenas for the manager, editor,
city editor, and police reporter of the Evening Telegram to appear before
the City Commission at 10:30 A. M. on said day, there to testify
under oath concerning the charges published, and for such other
witnesses as may be required from time to time during s
of the investigation. (�
