of appro>_i-nately $700,000.00 on various accounts, all
past due and many of them; of many years standing and
bearing high rates of interest, .i .
7/ERiAS, it is desirable in the interest
of economy, the improvement of the city's credit and in
aceerde:ece with .good business, practice, that all of such
accounts be placed in one at a lesser rate of interest
and that arrangements be .. :.de for its retirement serially
over a period not to exceed 10 years so that such
indebtedness at the end of that time will certainly be
F%j discharged and paid in full.
NOW, TliERFFORii, BE IT RESOLVED, that the
Commissioner of Public Affal c Finance be, and he
hereby is authorized to enter into negotiations and perfect •
plans to accomplish the results aforesaid and to finally
lay the matt:_ before the Commission for action in accord-
