Utah Gentlemen: Attached is a copy of a resolution passed by the Board of City Conunissioners, expressing the City Commission's support of the proposed Salt Lake County bond issue in the amount of 49.5 million dollars for needed park and recreation facilities, and for the County's share of the Hall of Performing Arts, and urging the citizens of Salt Lake County to vote in favor of the proposed bond issue. Harmsen Harrison ! � Phillips M ■■Result RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Salt Lake County residents will vote on August 13, 1974 on a proposed bond issue in the amount of 49.5 million dollars for needed park and recreation facilities, and for the County's share of the Hall of Performing Arts; and WHEREAS, the State of Utah has already appropriated 6.5 million dollars as its share of the Hall of Performing Arts; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City recognizes the great need for open space and recreational programs, as well as the need for a cultural hall in this fast-growing metropolitan area; and WHEREAS, said Board further recognizes that land prices are increasing at a very rapid rate and that if the proposed sites are not purchased as soon as possible, the cost of such purchase will be increased substantially, and land which is now available may not be available in the future; and WHEREAS, such facilities within the Salt Lake metropolitan area are lagging far behind the present need. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY that it hereby expresses its wholehearted support for the proposed bond issue. Further, the Board urges the citizens of Salt Lake County to vote in favor of the proposed bond issue, thereby expressing their desire to have additional park and recreational facilities as well as a new cultural hall for the betterment of our community.
