Result RESOLUTION
THEREAS, by an agreement made on the 10th day of April, 1916,
by and between Salt Lake City, on the one part, and Salt Lake County
and certain mining corporations, on the other part, it was agreed
that said Salt Lake• County, in consideration of the sum of Seventy-
five Hundred Dollars ($7600.), to be paid by the City to it, which
sum has heretofore been paid, would, on or before June 15, 1916,00m-
plete the repairs upon the Big Cottonwood Road and would immediately
thereafter adequately sprinkle the same, to the end that the dust
from said road might not pollute the drinking waters of Salt Lake
City; and
THEREAS,said County has not yet repaired said road suffi"
oiently to allow the mining oompaniesrusing the same to haul ores
thereon by means of engines and trailers and has thereby foroed
said mining oompanies to use horses and wagons and hes thereby enor-
mously increased the amount of dust and filth that falls from said
road into the said Cottonwood Creek, and has wholly failed to ads*
quately, or in any satisfactory manner, sprinkle said roads or to
lay the dust thereon; and
rHERFAS, as a result of such failures and omissions on the
part of the County Commissioners of Salt Lake County, the drinking
waters of Salt Lake City are being polluted:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of County
Commissioners of Salt Leke County, Utah, be and they hereby are re-
quired' immediately to cause the Big Cottonwood Road, between the
Gtity's intake and Mill D Flat, to be adequately and properly sprink-
led, in the manner contemplated by said contract, or in case they
fail or refuse to perform said duty, to return to Salt Lake City the
Seventy-five Hundred Dollars (t7500.) paid by it to said County for
said work and for expenditure upon said road: and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Recorder of Salt Lake
City be and he is hereby directed forthwith to serve a copy of this
Resolution upon each member of the Board of County Commissioners.
