Presented to the Board of Commissioners AND PASSED L' • CITY RECO' ROLL CALL VOTING Aye Nay_ Salt Lake City,Utah, November 1 ,19 72 Mr.Chairman ✓ / —J Barker I move that the Resolution be adopted. / v Harmsen 1/7" / / / Harrison / (/ Phillips ✓ RESOLUTION Result WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Police Department was host to the International Association of Police Chiefs held in Salt Lake City October 14, through October 19, 1972; and WHEREAS, the aforementioned police convention was a universally acclaimed success, being of great beenfit to the police chiefs and being of great economic and social benefit to Salt Lake City; and WHEREAS, the Police Department has received enumerable compli- ments from the guests for the courteous, efficient, dignified, and noteworthy manner in which the convention was organized and conducted; and WHEREAS, Police Chief, J. Earl Jones, and Assistant Police Chiefs: Joseph L. Smith, Dewey J. Fillis, and Eugene G. Cederlof, were the prime movers and organizers of the said convention; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY that it does hereby express to the Salt Lake City Police Department and to Chief J. Earl Jones and Assistant Chiefs, Joseph L. Smith, Dewey J. Fillis, and Eugene G. Cederlof, on behalf of the Board and on behalf of the residents of Salt Lake City, its sincere appreciation and gratitude for their unselfish, devoted and capable service in obtaining, preparing for and conducting the convention. It was in the highest order of public service to the residents of Salt Lake City to act as such a gracious and efficient host to these dis- tinguished visitors. The Board hereby formally, on behalf of itself and on behalf of the residents of Salt Lake City, thanks you for your able representation of the spirit and dignity of this city. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be delivered to Chief, J. Earl Jones, Assistant Chiefs, Joseph L. Smith, Dewey J. Fillis, and Eugene G. Cederlof, and to the Salt Lake City Police Depart- ment. Passed by the Boa d of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this First day of November 1972.
