RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Salt Lake City, a municipal corporation of the State of Utah,
has heretofore been active in the Model Cities Program; and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake County has also been active with regard to the Model
Cities Program; and
WHEREAS, both Salt Lake County and Salt Lake City have deemed it advis-
able to enter into a joint program with regard to obtaining federal participation
in a Model Cities Program which will involve both Salt Lake City and Salt Lake
County boundaries; and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake County and Salt Lake City, heretofore in an effort
to successfully create a joint program for Model Cities, have conferred with
each other through their respective officials and representative legal counsel
and have prepared a proposed agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and
by reference made a part of this Resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah, as follows:
1. That Commissioner Conrad B. Harrison of Salt Lake City be, and
hereby is, authorized to execute the Interlocal Co-operation Agreement for the
formation of Model Cities, Inc., on behalf of Salt Lake City Corporation.
2. That Salt Lake City participate jointly with Salt Lake County to
undertake and operate a comprehensive cities demonstration program pursuant to
the provisions of Title 1 of the Demonstration Cities and Metropolitan Development
Act of 1966, Public law 89-754, 80 Statutes 1255 (1966) and pursuant to the
provisions of the agreement between Salt Lake County and Salt Lake City as
herein proposed, subject to the approval of the Attorney General of the State
of Utah, as required by the provisions of Section 11-13-9 U.C.A. 1953, as
amended.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
20th day of August, 1970.
