Gentlemen:
Here is a resolution passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah, opposing the establishment of a rehabilitation
center to be known as the "Halfway House"at 855 North Second West
Street in Salt Lake City, Utah.
It is respectfully requested that you consider locating this "Halfway
House"at a more suitable location.

WHEREAS, Salt Lake City, a municipal corporation, of the
State of Utah, has an interest in the location of any penal or
rehabilitative institution within its boundaries; and
WHEREAS, the Utah State Board of Corrections is contem-
plating the establishment of a penal rehabilitative institution
to be known as "Halfway House" at the old Mission Motel at 855 North
Second West Street in Salt Lake City, Utah; and
WHEREAS, the said location is near a residential area
adjacent to a park, and, under the present circumstances, may be
a detriment to the neighborhood,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners
of Salt Lake City that the Utah State Board of Corrections be, and
hereby is, advised that the commissioners oppose the establishment
of a rehabilitation center to be known as "Halfway House" at 855
North Second West in Salt Lake City, Utah, and urge that it be
located at a more suitable location.
