RESOLUTION Result WHEREAS, Sections 20-18-1 to Section 20-15-20, both inclusive, provide that cities may by resolution-"or order of its governing Board provide for the use of voting machines in any city election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that in the coming municical election of Salt Lake City to be held on November 8, 1955, that the City Recorder is hereby authorized and directed to use voting machines in conjunction with the regular ballots, commonly referred to as Australian ballots, in such districts not to exceed six (6), as she may determine; providing, however, that said voting machines and all necessary technical help in operating the same, shall be furnished by the companies who manufacture the same, at no cost to Salt Lake City, and that said company shall assume all responsibility for any mishap or misfortune that may occur by reason of the use and moving into the voting district, or removing the same from said voting district and hold the city harmless for any damages resulting from the use or operation of said machine. Gentlemen: We are submitting herewith copy of a resolution duly adopted by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, at its meeting held October 20th, 1955 authorising the use of voting machines at the forthcoming Municipal Election to be held Nobember 8, 1955. It has been determined that we will use three of your voting machines at each of the fohlowing Election Districts: Dist. No. Location, Potential Voters Registered Voters No. 31 Douglas School, 345 629 668 South 13th East, No. 186 Fire Station 287 473 222 "I" Street No. 245 Mrs. Paul Nichols., 330 South 13th East, 198 435 We are also submitting for your information, copy of a regular ballot showing the names of the candidates and the offices to be voted upon together with Initiative Ordinance No. 2, which is also to be considered . It will be appreciated if we could confer with a representative of your Company relative to further arrangements for the use of these machines.
