SALARY OF CITY JUDGES
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Court was established by an
Act of the Legislature in 1901, providing for four (4) city court
judges in cities of the first class; and
WHEREAS, the number of city court judges in cities of the
first class has not been increased; and
WHEREAS, the judges of the Salt Lake City Court have dis-
charged their duties faithfully, judiciously, expeditiously and
conscientiously, thereby rendering indispensible and valuable
service to the citizens of the state, Salt Lake City Corporation,
Salt Lake County, The State of Utah and the members of the Bar
in handling the civil and criminal causes tried in the Salt Lake
City Court, notwithstanding the increasingly greater case load
per individual judge.

of Salt Lake City, Utah, does hereby request that the two houses
of the Legislature of the State of Utah entertain and pass an Act
amending Section 78-4-9, Utah Code Annotated, 1953, as amended

tion 1, Laws of Utah, 1961, and Chapter 167, Section 1, Laws of
Utah, 1965, increasing the salary of the judges of cities of the
first class from 75% to 95% of the salary paid to the District
Court Judges.
