OF APPRECIATION WHEREAS, Salt Lake City is greatly interested in improving the efficiency of its Police and Fire Departments, based on a minimum appropriation necessary to insure protection for the citizens of Salt Lake City; and WHEREAS, the City of Peoria, Illinois, has enacted and innovated new procedures for the combining of operations in certain instances of police and fire departments; and WHEREAS, Salt Lake City was interested in studying the operation and results from such program; and WHEREAS, the city officials of Peoria were extremely helpful in assisting officials of Salt Lake City in such a study; and WHEREAS, certain officials of Salt Lake City visited Peoria, Illinois, and the persons hereinafter named devoted much time and knowledge and gave of such time and knowledge freely and gave real assistance to the officials of Salt Lake City during their study in Peoria; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY, in its behalf and in behalf of the citizens of Salt Lake City, that said Board does hereby express to E. Michael O'Brien, Mayor of Peoria, Illinois; Leonard Caro, City Manager; Superintendent of Police,Allen Andrews; Director of Public Safety, Bernard Kennedy; Administrative Assistant to the City Manager, Dennis Moore; Fire Chief, Hugh Bennett; Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, Henry W. Holling; Finance Department Director, Peter Dardesbanian; and Personnel Director, Reginald V. Sipfle, their sincere thanks and appreciation for their capable service, knowledge, and assistance in advising Salt Lake City and its officials as to the feasibility, advan- tages, and disadvantages of the combination Police and Fire Department, such service and assistance given despite their extremely busy schedules and fulfilling of their duties to the citizens of Peoria, Illinois.
