RESOLUTION
Result
WHEREAS, HAROLD P. FABIAN has resigned as a member of the Board of Parks and
Recreation for the State of Utah effective October 16, 1972; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Fabian has been instrumental in the creation and administration
of the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and its successor the Board of Parks
and Recreation for the State of Utah, serving as the Chairman thereof for many years
subsequent to its creation and serving as a member thereof continuously until his
resignation; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Fabian has been singularly honored by the National Parks Service
for his leadership and direction in the acquisition of the Jackson Hole Preserve and
the subsequent creation of Grand Teton National Park; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Fabian has unselfishly served the residents of Salt Lake City
and Salt Lake County as President of the Sugarhouse Park Authority from its inception
to the present time in transforming the old state prison site into the beautiful
park that it is today; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Fabian's expertise and knowledge in the field of conservation and
preservation of historical sites led to his appointment as Vice President and Trustee
of Nauvoo Restoration, Incorporated, a historic project of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints in Nauvoo, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, during his entire life Mr. Fabian has served his country, his state,
his community, his profession and his family in a most distinguished manner;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE
CITY that it does hereby express to HAROLD P. FABIAN on its own behalf and on behalf
of the residents of Salt Lake City its sincere appreciation and gratitude for his
lifetime of devoted and capable service to his fellowmen as a dedicated conservationist
and inspirational public servant, and hereby extends its best wishes to Mr. Fabian and
his wife, Josephine, for their continued happiness and well-being in retirement.
Conrad B. Harrison, Commissioner in charge of the Department of Parks and Public
Property of Salt Lake City, is hereby directed to deliver a copy of this resolution
of appreciation to Harold P. Fabian.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this 13th day
of December, 1972.
