RESOLUTION Result . . . . WHEREAS, Salt Lake City has been planning important improvement projects on its water and sewage systems, known as: a. Seventeenth South Sewer Project; b. City Creek Water Treatment Plant Sludge Beds; and c. City Water Reservoir Cover Project; and WHEREAS, the city was informed by the Federal Government that they would financially aid the aforementioned projects beginning in July of 1969; and WHEREAS, a delay was occasioned and the Federal Government promised approval of the aforementioned projects immediately after October of 1969; and WHEREAS, Salt Lake City has now been informed by a representative of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that no federal funds are to be given because Salt Lake County has failed to file a master sewer plan for the entire county; and WHEREAS, no federal funds are to be given any city within Salt Lake County until the said county files a master plan for the whole county; and WHEREAS, Salt Lake City is within Salt Lake County, but has had a master plan for sewer and storm drainage for many years--a copy of each is attached hereto; and WHEREAS, it is imperative and extremely urgent for the health and safety of the residents of Salt Lake City to obtain the federal funds and begin the aforementioned projects; and WHEREAS, much of Salt Lake County is not populated. NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City hereby and herewith requests that the Department of Housing and Urban Development: 1. Grant to Salt Lake City an interim certification, and release the necessary federal money to complete the projects aforedescribed. 2.
