RESOLUTION
Result
WHEREAS, Robert N. Baskin, former mayor of Salt Lake
City, has departed this life after a long and able career of
public service; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that this Board recognize
the great debt tnat Salt Lake City owes its distinguished former
executive; and
WHEREAS, it was largely during the able and farseeing
administration of Judge Baskin that this community emerged
into the fullness of its civic life; NOW THEREFORE '
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners take
this occasion to express on the behalf of the municipality its
deep appreciation of Judge Baskin's life and his public achievements
which contributedso materially to the welfare of this City and
State. In his death Salt Lake City has lost one of its most
valued citizens and his associates a most dear friend. Honorable
and fearless, implacable in his adherence to what was for him the
right, vigorous and able in his conduct of public office, he
leaves a void that only the yearscan close.
That in the simplicity and forcefulness of his character
and his intelligent devotion to duty, he achieved an enviable place
in the minds and hearts of his fellowmen.
BE IT FURT;+ER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread
upon the minutes of the Board and that a copy be forwarded to the
family of Judge Baskin.
