RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Bonanza Air Lines, a local service carrier that has provided excellent
service to Salt Lake City for many years, has applied for a new route that may be
defined as: Salt Lake City - Cedar City - Las Vegas, connecting with existing
Las Vegas - Los Angeles route, a route that is and has been for some years in vital
need of additional air service; and
WHEREAS, Bonanza Air Lines is offeringF-27 prop/jet service Salt Lake City -
Cedar City - Las Vegas and return; and is offering DC-9 fan/jet service Salt
Lake City - Las Vegas - Los Angeles and return; and
WHEREAS, the need for the operation by Bonanza Air Lines of this route as
outlined has been supported by: (1) Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce; (2) Utah
State Aeronautics Commission; (3) Utah State Industrial Promotion Commission;
(4) Cedar City Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, this new route proposal would benefit a substantial number of
people in Utah, Nevada and California, and
WHEREAS, this proposal is a part of a subsidy reduction program, which is in
the national and public interest; and
WHEREAS, this application has been pending many months before the Civil Aero-
nautics Board and has not been ordered to hearing; and
WHEREAS, the Aviation Subcommittee of the Senate Interstate and Foreign Com-
merce Committee is holding a hearing in Washington, D. C., February 28 through
March 4, to investigate the service needs of local service carriers in the communities
they serve:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY,
UTAH, that said Board unqualifiedly supports the proposal of Bonanza Air Lines
to furnish the service above indicated.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that 0. J. Wilkinson, a member of the Aviation Committee
of the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce, is hereby appointed and authorized to
appear, on behalf of Salt Lake City, at the Senate hearing and testify as to the

airline service deficiency and needs of ealt Lake City and support the program
presented by Bonanza Air Lines.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this 17th
day of February, 1966.
