Result
/ OF CONDOLENCE
WHEREAS, Mr. William L. Butler was a valued employee of Salt Lake City
corporation from 1938 until his retirement in 1963; and
WHEREAS, the Commission is saddened to learn of his passing away on
October 8, 1975; and
WHEREAS, Mr. William L. Butler contributed greatly to the residents of
Salt Lake City by pioneering air pollution control in the Western States and
especially in Salt Lake City; and
WHEREAS, as a result of Mr. Butler's efforts Salt Lake City was able to
pass ordinances regulating the power and heating field with the result that
Salt Lake City had a significant reduction in the smoke density which plagues
Salt Lake City because of its unique geographic location; and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City is proud to have had employees such as Mr. William
L. Butler who assisted so greatly in developing our City.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Commissioners, on behalf of themselves and
the residents of Salt Lake City, hereby extend their condolences to the
family of Mr. William L, Butler in the loss of their loved one, and in the
loss of one who has contributed greatly to the growth and development of
Salt Lake City.
