Mr. Chairman .
RESOLUTION
Result . . . .
WHEREAS, during the week of September 15, 1969, the House Ways
and Means Committee held public hearings concerning airport user charge
and fees; and
WHEREAS, the House Interstate and Foreign Commerce Committee has
reportedly begun executive sessions to prepare a bill similar to the
Administration Bill, known as H. B. #12374 and Senate Bill being S-2437;
and
WHEREAS, Section 212 of the aforementioned Bills is reported to
provide that funds would be delegated to the States, including Five
Million Dollars to be distributed to the States based on population
and area, for advance airport planning and engineering; and
WHEREAS, this plan of fund disbursements would be highly prejudicial
against Salt Lake City and the State of Utah because of our relatively
small population; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration presently has equitable
criteria and procedures for the disbursement of funds to the States and
for establishing priorities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that th said Board opposes Section 212 of the pro-
posed legislation now pending before Congress and believes that the
federal funds should be distributed to the airports through the presently
existing procedures and priority system of the Federal Aviation Admini-
stration.
The City Recorder is hereby directed to mail a copy of this
resolution to each of the United States Senators and the United States
Congressmen representing the State of Utah.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
9th day of December, 1969.
