WHEREAS, an undetermined number of American and other servicemen are currently being held prisoners of war by the Country of North Vietnam; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, has reason to believe that several of these prisoners are former residents of the State of Utah and of the City of Salt Lake; and WHEREAS, said prisoners are not being given the mail and other privileges and treatment guaranteed by the Geneva Accords for the treatment of prisoners of war, agreed to and signed by North Vietnam; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, that the Board hereby sincerely urges the following: 1. That all citizens of Salt Lake City write as often as possible to the Chairman of the North Vietnam Peace Delegation in Paris, France, demanding that North Vietnam: a. Release the names of all prisoners of war currently being held by that country; b. Allow unrestricted exchange of mail between said prisoners of war and their families; c. Give all of its prisoners of war all of the privileges and treatment required by said Geneva Accords. 2. That the United Nations use all means at its disposal to require North Vietnam to honor and implement the Geneva Accords on behalf of all prisoners of war currently being held by North Vietnam.
