Dear Commissioner Ages:
A public hearing was held before the Board of City Commisaloners today
to consider the establishment of a Parking and Business Improvement
District in the area from the south side of South Temple, south to the
north side of 4th South, and from the west side of State Street, west to
the east side of West Temple.
After discussion of the matter, the City Commission approved your motion
to adopt by resolution the creation of a CHD Business Improvement District.
Towards that end, the City Attorney is hereby directed to prepare the
necessary resolution for adoption by the City Commission.
An administrative board consisting of seven directors Is to be appointed
from each of the following group*: (1)Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce,
(3)Retail Merchants Association, (3)Property Managers Association, (4)
Parking Lot Operators, (3) rofeesional Service Groups, ($)a citizen at
large, and(7)the Mayor or his designated representative from City Govern-
ment. The seven(T)appointed representatives are hereby directed to prepare
a proposed "work program"of specific proposals and projects for the coming
year, together with a correspobdiig budget and the assessment fee formula
for adoption by the governing authority (Council).

/ OF INTENT TO CREATE A PARKING
r AND BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City has received a petition approved
by 10% or more of the business owners located in the proposed
district which is more particularly described hereinafter; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed by the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City that the public health, convenience, and necessity
requires the establishments of said Parking and Business Improve-
ment District; and
WHEREAS, the boundaries of the Proposed Parking and Business
Improvement District are as follows: The south side of South
Temple, south to the north side of 4th South. The west side of
State Street, west to the east side of West Temple; and
WHEREAS, said Parking and Business Improvement District
shall be designated as the Central Parking and Business Improve-
ment District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners
of Salt Lake City, Utah, as follows:
1. That it is the intention of the Board of Commissioners
of Salt Lake City to establish a Parking and Business Improvement
District to be known as the Central Parking and Business Improvement
District within the boundaries as set forth above.
2. That the City Recorder is hereby instructed to publish
a notice of intention to establish said district according to
law.
3. The City Recorder is hereby directed to establish a
time and place for a public hearing regarding the proposed
establishment of the District.
