PATTON NEELEY was appointed a City Judge on January 1, 1951, and was thereafter elected to three successive terms in that position; and WHEREAS, Judge Neeley will retire from the office of Judge of the Salt Lake City Court on January 5, 1970; and WHEREAS, prior to his service as a member of the judiciary of this state, Judge Neeley distinguished himself as an able practitioner of law as well as a devoted public servant in the office of the Salt Lake County Attorney; and WHEREAS, Judge Neeley has always exhibited those qualities which are admired in judicial officers by lawyers and the public at large and has earned the respect and admiration of all who know him by reason of his civic responsibilities and his devotion to community, family and individual responsibility and well-being; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY, in its own behalf, and in behalf of the residents of Salt Lake City, that said Board does hereby express to Judge J. Patton Neeley its sincere thanks and appreciation for his many years of distinguished public service as a judge of the City Court of Salt Lake City and for his unwavering devotion to the principle of maintaining law and order without infringement of constitutional rights in this community. Said Board further expresses its best wishes that the future will bring added enjoyment and satisfaction to Judge Neeley and his wife. The City Recorder is hereby directed to deliver a copy of this resolution to Judge Neeley.
