WHEREAS, the Fire Fighters Union, Local 1645 desires a collective
barbaining ordinance; and
WHEREAS, it is the consensus of the Board of Salt Lake City
Commissioners that, if collective bargaining arrangements are to be
made with employees in municipal employment, that a uniform State
Statute should outline the scope of any such collective bargaining and
define the rights and duties of the respective parties, particularly
with reference to strikes, slowdowns or other work stoppage that may
occur in the bargaining processes;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Board of Salt Lake
City Commissioners that the 1975 Utah State Legislature consider a
State Statutory scheme for collective bargaining for public sector
employees.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Salt Lake City Recorder be directed
to forward a copy of this resolution to the Utah State Legislature.
