HomeMy WebLinkAbout68 of 1980 - Amending a prior Interlocal Agreement with the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake County and the Bo if RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of Salt Lake City, the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake County, and the Board of Trustees of Salt Lake County Special District No. 1 have legal responsibility and duty to provide adequate solid waste disposal services to their respective citizens; and WHEREAS, heretofore said public entities have established, through appropriate Resolution and an Interlocal Agreement, a Solid Waste Management Council charged with the responsibility to establish and manage jointly-owned and operated solid waste processing and disposal facilities for the use and benefit of their citizens; and WHEREAS, said Council has succeeded in consolidating the management of each public entity's respective solid waste processing and disposal operations and thereby avoided the duplication of functions and achieved greater efficiencies; and WHEREAS, certain circumstances have since arisen in the functions of said Council which do now necessitate amendment of the aforementioned Interlocal Agreement in order to continue the proper exercise of the management responsibility previously imposed upon the Council; and WHEREAS, the said public entities have made an agreement to effect the necessary changes; and WHEREAS, Title II, Chapter 13, Utah Code Annotated, 1953, allows public entities to enter into cooperative agreements to provide services and maintain service facilities; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Salt Lake City does hereby accept and approve the above-referenced and hereto-attached amended Interlocal Agreement for and on behalf of Salt Lake City and authorizes the Mayor to execute the same.
