By Commissioner 'es len ............_... aesolution of condolence on deat.. of .'c:,-r;.ier . oaernor 2auberc;e r. � I Burton Fehr ✓ I move that the resolution be adopted. mitw Finch preen ✓ .. /i�� Moran Mr.Chairman - - - result RESOLUTION WHEREAS, SIMON BAMBE'RGER, 81 years of age and war Governor of Utah, departed this life October 6th, 1926; N0W, THEREFORE, BE IT A:.SOLVD by the Board of Jommis- sioners of malt Lake 'Jity, Utah, that because of the outstanding character of former Governor 3amberger's achievements to the pub- lic both as an official and as a citizen working for the develop- ment of his .state, an appreciation of his life of service should be incorporated into the public records of this city. Mr. damberger enjoyed a unique place in the hearts of the people of this city and state. A successful merchant, miner, railway builder and operator. he always had time for public ser • - vice. He was distinguished for his breadth of vision and high ideals for the public interest. Fe served as State benator in the 5th and 6th iutate Legis- lative sessions and was a member of the :salt Lake Jity 3oard of Edu- cation from 1898 to 1903. The splendid school system of our city owes much to his energy and wisdom as a board member. In November, 1916, he was elected Governor of Utah and served through the trying and historic years of 1917, 1918, 1919 and 1920. He was an able and patriotic leader during this period of world war and of re-adjustment which followed. He will be long remembered by our people as a community builder, a man of tolerance in the midst of religious and political strife, always a man of his word, strong in his sense of duty and of justice.
