OF COMMENDATION
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Police Department answered 99,525
calls within the corporate limits of Salt Lake City during 1976 and
this being the largest number of calls ever received by said depart-
ment; and
WHEREAS, in spite of the high number of calls the Police Depart-
ment reacted to, there was an over-all decrease for the year 1976
over 1975 in the seven major crime catagories of 3.3%; and
WHEREAS, it is due to the diligent, loyal and faithful effort
of the men and women of the Police Department that such a reduction
in the crime rate can be realized; and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City and its citizens owe a debt of gratitude
to the men and women of the Police Department for the protection
which the Salt Lake City Police Department renders on their behalf.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners
of Salt Lake City, that the Board does hereby express to the men and
women of the Police Department, on behalf of itself and on behalf of
the residents of Salt Lake City, Utah, its sincere appreciation
and gratitude for the devoted, diligent and capable service they
perform and do hereby commend the men and women of said Department
for their accomplishments in reducing the crime rate during the year
1976.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be delivered
to Dewey J. Fillis, Chief of Police, to be read to or copies distributed
to the men and women of the Police Department.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 20th day of January 1977.
