OF COMMENDATION

WHEREAS, the performance of the Salt Lake Gulls Baseball Club,
located in Salt Lake City has been of the highest quality; and
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake Gulls have provided great enjoyment and
entertainment for many thousand of residents of the City and the
metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, the Salt Lake Gulls have succeeded in winning the Eastern
Division of the Pacific Coast Baseball League in this 1976 season; and
WHEREAS, the Gulls have bettered the modern day winning record,
having won 90 victories exceeding the 1959 record by 5 wins; and
WHEREAS, this seasons Eastern Division championship is the second
straight and the third divisional title in the last 6 years; and
WHEREAS, the Club set a modern day attendance record; and
WHEREAS, the 1976 team has been one of which the citizens of
Salt Lake City can be proud.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, that the members of the City Commission on their own
behalf and on behalf of the citizens of Salt Lake City do hereby
congratulate the Salt Lake Gulls Baseball team for their accomplishment
in winning the Eastern Division of the Pacific Coast Baseball League
in the 1976 season.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the members of the City Commission
do hereby wish the Salt Lake Gulls Baseball Club luck and success in
the play-off between the Eastern and Western Division of the Pacific
Coast Baseball League.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be sent
to the Salt Lake Gulls Baseball Club at their offices, 65 West 1300
South.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 9th day of September, 1976.
