WHEREAS, Mr. A vin L. Mason, P.E., will retire as Assistant City
Engineer for Salt Lak6 City Corporation on July 1, 1977; and
WHEREAS, Al Mason commenced his employment with Salt Lake City
Corporation in 1966 in the drafting room of the City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, during this time Mr. Mason was a consultant on
numerous construction projects for various City Departments; and
WHEREAS, he has aided and assisted in additional projects
involving the construction of reservoirs, bridges, fire stations,
storm sewers and sanitary sewers; and
WHEREAS, Al Mason was promoted to Assistant City Engineer in
1969, a position which he has held until the present time; and
WHEREAS, through his efforts as Assistant City Engineer the
City has been benefited through numerous projects which Mr. Mason has
overseen such as the construction of the water reclamation pump house
facility, the performance of infiltration studies of the sanitary
sewer lines of the City, and aiding in the finding of a solution to
the City's solid waste disposal problem; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mason has served on the Advanced Planning Group
at the Airport and has represented the City Engineer's Office on the
Airport expansion and has overseen projects which amount to over
$25,000,000 in construction; and
WHEREAS, during the course of his tenure, Al Mason has per-
formed all of his duties efficiently, faithfully, and honestly. He has
earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the public with
whom he has dealt.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF SALT LAKE CITY, that said Board does hereby express to Mr. Alvin
L. Mason on behalf of itself and the residents of Salt Lake City its
sincere appreciation and gratitude for his devoted and capable service
and his untiring efforts to aid, develop and beautify Salt Lake City.
The Board wishes him well in his continued efforts and pursuits as he
now leaves the employment of Salt Lake City Corporation.
PASSED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH,
this 30th day of June, 1977.
