Shearman �c Wells _ Mr.Chairman Result RESOLUTION In the matter of the application for a rooming house license by the Kenyon Hotel Company: WHEREAS, The application filed by the Kenyon Hotel Company for license to conduct a rooming house at No. 211 South Main Street, dated September 12, 1916, and the report on such application by the Chief of Police in which said Chief of Police after stating reasons therefor in said report, recommended that said application be denied, duly came on for hearing before the Board of Commissioners of this city on the 3rd day of October, 1916, and after hearing the evidence introduced by said applicant, and after hearing the argument of its counsel, and after hearing the evidence offered by said Chief of Police, said Board of Commissioners took the granting of such license under consideration; and WHEREAS, After fully considering said matter, the Board finds as matters of fact: 1. That gambling was carried on in said hotel both in the room back of the pool-room on the main floor , and in a room on Floor A of said hotel, as charged by the Chief of Police in his said report. 2. That such gambling was carried on by persons in no way connected with the management of said hotel, and under pretense of conducting a game other than gambling. 3. That the proprietor of said hotel was not cognizant of the fact that gambling was being carried on in said hotel, and upon -1- hearing of it, immediately ejected from said hotel the persons conducting the same; NCB. TREREPOBB, Be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: 1. That under the facts and circumstances of this case, the application of said Zenyon Hotel Company for rooming house license as aforesaid, be granted, and the same is hereby ordered issued. 2. That the police officers whose faithful performance of duty resulted in the discovery of the gambling games above mention they and the suppression of the same, are entitled to and are hereby tendered the thanks of this Board.
