RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Denver & Rio Grande Lestern Railroad Com-
pany, a corporation, is the owner of and operates a railroad east
of Highland Drive and across 13th East Street between 21st South
Stneet and Wilmington Avenue in Salt Lake City and from said city
to other places in said state and in other states, and is daily
employing in such service a large number of passenger and freight
trains which are propelled by steam power over these said tracks
which cross 13th East Street as aforesaid; and
1'.HLRL,AS, 13th East Street as extended from 21st South
Street will cross said tracks and the inhabitants of said city

• required to use said 13th East Street will necessarily be com-
pelled to cross said tracks by day and by night and said traffic
both on foot and in vehicles will increase; and
WHEREAS, the hazard to lives and persons and property
will in the judgment of the commissioners of said city require
immediate protection.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commis-
sioners of Salt Lake City that it is necessary for the protection
of the public and the convenience and welfare of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City that the grade of 13th East Street extended from
21st South Street be raised above the railroad tracks of the Denver
& Rio Grande Western railroad Company and that it is necessary as
aforesaid that the grade of 13th East Street at and near its in-

tersection with said railroad tracks south of 21st South Street
and nerth of Dilmington Avenue be raised above the-;railroad tracks
of said railroad company and to this end that bridges or a viaduct
