Result
WHEREAS, John Vetterli, father of Chief of Police Reed E.
Vetterli, departed this life on Sunday, June 4, 1944; and
WHEREAS, he was one of our city's leading citizens, being
born in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, on May 6, 1865, coming to the
United States in 1872 and residing in Salt Lake City continuously
since1884. He was married and the father of seven children, eighteen
grand-children and three great grand-children. He was admired and
esteemed by all those who knew him and he gave untiringly of his
time and gbilities to serve this community and endeavored to live a
life of service to his church and humanity, he being a former Bishop
of Emigration Ward, a former member of the High Council of Liberty
Stake and a former Superintendent of Bonneville Stake missionary
work. His passing wiil bring grief to a large host of friends and
associates bywhom he was well loved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commission-
ers of Salt Lake City that an expression of condolence and profound
sympathy be extended to Reed E.Vetterli and the family of John Vette
and that said expression be publicly made and that an engrossed copy
thereof be conveyed to the surviving family of John Vetterli.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon
the minutes of the Board of Commissioners.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
