WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Utah at its 1961 Session enacted legislation entitled, "The Utah Public Employees Retirement Act," and WHEREAS, all cities of the state under said act are provided the opportunity to participate in the retirement system created thereunder, and WHEREAS, it is the desire of Salt Lake City Corporation to partici- pate in the said retirement system, and WHEREAS, cities of the state by said act are given an opportunity to withdraw from said system by a resolution made not later than January 1, 1962, and WHEREAS, before any retirement under said act can be effective for Salt Lake City prior to January 1, 1962, it is necessary that the Board of Commissioners enact a resolution declaring its intention not to with- draw from said system, and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City deems that such a resolution,declaring its intention not to withdraw from said system, to be in the best interests of the citizens of Salt Lake City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City: 1. That Salt Lake City does hereby resolve that it will not with- draw from the retirement system created by The Utah Public Employees Re- tirement Act, but will rather conform to the said act and make the said retirement system effective on the 1st day of July, 1961, for Salt Lake City. 2.
