SALT LAKE CITY CORPORATION
SAMUEL C. PARK
MAYOR
Corn m'stio4rof Public Safety
B.F. GRANT SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
CHIEF OF POLICE
June 10, 1912,
The Honorable Mayor,
Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dear Sir:
I have the honor to recommend the purchase of a motorcycle
for this department with the understanding that the same will be loaned
to the Juvenile Court.
This may appear a little irregular but as I understand there
is no way whereby the city can purchase a. machine for the Juvenile Court
on account of that being a State institution, I feel that this would
increase the efficiency of the Court and anything that tends to do this
is of great benefit to our department.
This is merely given as a suggestion but I trust you may
be able to grant this request or devise some means whereby the Juvenile
Court will be given a motorcycle or the use of one .
Very respectfully,
Your obedient servant,
Chief o olice
RESOLUTION .
WHEREAS, under date of Lay 7th, 1912, the Board of
Commissioners of Salt Lake City,Utah, granted the petition of
Judge Alexander IdcMMaster of the Juvenile Court asking that
Probation Officer A. L:ciiaster be appointed motorcycle policeman; and
W} REAS, it is desired that the city furnish said
probation officer A. McLaster with a motorcycle; therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Chief of Police be instructed to
appoint A. McMaster a special motorcycle policeman without pay other
than the compensation paid him as probation officer of the Juvenile
Court;and that the Chief of Police make requisition and the Purchasing
Agent purchase a motorcycle to be loaned to s lid Juvenile Court
Probation Officer for the time being.
