RESOLUTION.
A RESOLUTION LEVYING TAXES UPON AT THE REAL AND PERSONAL
PROPERTY WITHIN SALT LAKE CITY, MADE TAXABLE BY LAW, FOR THE
YEAR 1913.
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City is undergoing a rapid growth
and a large amount of public improvement is being demanded in
directions, and,
WHEREAS, the city's portion of contemplated improve—
mentS is larger than ever before and,
WHEREAS the city's limits have been extended and
several improtant additions admitted within the corporate limits
and,
WHEREAS it is necessary to develop and improve the
water supply on account of the increased population, and,
WHEREAS the prelent tax rate of thirteen mills is less
than the average tax rate of western cities but appears to be
sufficient to adequately provide for the necessities of the year
1913;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, Utah:
That for the purpose of defraying the necessary and
proper expenses of Salt Lake City and maintaining the government
thereof, there be and there is hereby levied upon all the real
and personal property within said city, made taxable by law, for
the fiscal year ending December 31, 1913, a tax of thirteen (13)
mills per each dollar. assessed valuation of said property.
Said tax is hereby levied and is to be raised.for the
following purposes, and. is and shall be apportioned to(such
purposes ,in the following manner;
CONTINGENT EXPENSES
To defray contingent expenses. four and five sixths
(4-5/6) mills on each dollar assessed valuation of said property.
WATER SUPPLY AND WATERWORKS.
To develop and improve wateraupply and to replace,

repair. and lay additional mains for the distribution of water
' five-sixths (5/6) mills on each dollar assessed valuation of
4 , ' said property.
STREETS AND SIDEWALKS.
To open, improve and repair sidewalks and streets fbtrr
(4) mills on each dollar assessed valuation of said property.
INTEREST ON BONDS AND SINKING FUND.
For the payment of interest on bonds series 5, 6, 7,
8 and 9 and sewer bonds two (2) mills on each dollar assessed
valuation of said property.
SEP?S AND DRAINS.
To construct and repair sewers and drains one (1) mill
on each dollar assessed valuation of said property.
LIBRARY.
To maintain Public Library and Free Reading Room two-
sixths .(2/5) mill on each dollar assessed valuation of said
