84 of 1980 - Resolution regarding Salt Lake County’s proposed program of operation for the County Flood Control D RESOLUTION
dWHEREAS, the Salt Lake City Council has reviewed Salt Lake County's
proposed program of operation for the County Flood ConLLul Division; and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City comprises approximately one-third of
the assessed valuation for the entire flood con hul area; and
WHEREAS, the proposed County Flood Con hul program regarding operations
and budget lacks definition and precision in several material areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Salt Lake City,
Utah, that it concurs in the funding for the County Flood Control operations,
provided the following policies and programs are adopted by Salt Lake County:
1. The preparation of a master plan for Salt Lake County Flood Control,
including short and long term goals of the system. Said master plan should
include a current description of the system as well as areas of anticipated
growth.
2. Adequate monies should be ear-marked for maintenance of the system
as it currently exists, especially in the areas where the system is located
within municipalities, and more particularly Salt Lake City. All portions
of the County's flood conLLul system in Salt Lake City should be specified
and the areas of local and county responsibility should be explicityly set
forth.
3. Over time the efforts of the County in operating and maintaining
the County's Flood Control system should reflect a balance between the revenues
assessed from Salt Lake City and funds actually expended within Salt Lake City
on the County's Flood Conliul system.
