WHEREAS, Salt Lake County, through its Department of Pre-
trial Services, has developed and is operating a program
providing pre-trial release for people charged with crimes; and
WHEREAS, this pre-trial release program results in savings
of incarceration costs and early problem identification for use
in City court proceedings and rehabilitation efforts; and
WHEREAS, Salt Lake City is willing to participate in said
program by contributing the sum of Fifteen Thousand Dollars for
the fiscal year 1980-81 as part of the operating costs of said
program; and
WHEREAS, under the terms of the Interlocal Cooperation Act
of the State of Utah, Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County have
the authority to enter into such an agreement;
WHEREAS, it is determined by the Salt Lake City Council that
such a program is to the benefit of Salt Lake City.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of Salt
Lake City, Utah, as follows:
Salt Lake City does hereby endorse and accept the Agreement
between Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County for the administering
of the pre-trial release program, subject to the terms and
conditions of said Agreement. Mayor Ted L. Wilson is hereby
authorized, empowered and directed to execute the Agreement on
behalf of Salt Lake City Corporation.
