Hon. Board of City Commissioners-
City £; County Building,
City.
Gentlemen:-
Sometime ago a license was granted to
Stella Thomas, a colored woman, to conduct a rooming
house at number 14 Commercial stret, upon her assurance
that it was a rooming house that would be run for men
only and that there would be no other women about the
premises- but on the night of Friday, Idoberober 24th,
officers from this department succeeded in purchasing
beer at this address and on Saturday, the 25th instant,
we elezed and took into our po• session sixteen pints of
beer and arrested several disorderly persons there.
At the time this raid was ria:je, of the inmates
made an indecent proposal to Officer Williams who was
about to arrest her. This of course was dune before she
realized he was an officer.
I would therefore request that th@ license
previously granted to this woman be revoked.
Respectfully,
J. PARLEY WHITE,
Chief of Police.
