Agraz k" Greener Hogensen / Phillips RESOLUTION Result WHEREAS, beginning on or about July 26, 1977, the City became aware of dangerous and hazardous gasoline and fumes in the sump and storm sewers surrounding the Metropolitan Hall of Justice; and WHEREAS, upon notification and request, American Oil Company through Mr. L. M. Butterworth assigned Mr. Maynard Shevront, Assistant Plant Manager and Amoco Firechief Mr. Edmund Demke to provide foam equipment to aid in fighting fire in the storm sewer discharge on the Jordan River July 27, 1977, and to assist the City in disposing of gasoline in the City's sump; and WHEREAS, Amoco also provided engineering advise, personnel and equipment including portable pumps, two tompson tankers and a large 7,000 gallon tanker to remove gas fromthe sump and dispose of it; and WHEREAS, said Amoco employees worked diligently in the City's emergency; and WHEREAS, the Board of City Commissioners and the residents of Salt Lake City owe Amoco and its employees a debt of gratitude for their faithful and selfless service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY that the Board does hereby express to American Oil Company on behalf of itself and the residents of Salt Lake City, their sincere appreciation and gratitude for the devoted and capable service rendered.
