Mountain Fuel Supply Company, its officers, and employees strive to be good members of the communities to which we render service and are grateful for the opportunity we had to help control what could have become an incident of serious consequences. I am certain you found the employees assigned to he dedicated and resourceful in exercising their responsibilities, and I want you to know that we take great satisfaction in their performance. May we extend our compliments to you for the diligent and dedicated performance of the Salt Lake City Fire Department! For many years we have enjoyed a close working relationship with the City Fire Department, with whom we maintain a continuing, close liaison. The incident in July is another example of our cooper- ative ability to provide the very best service to the residents of Salt Lake City. We look forward to continuing efforts with your Fire Department personnel and assure you of our availability to assist whenever possible. Agraz Greener Hogensen / Phillips ✓/ RESOLUTION Result WHEREAS, beginning on or about July 26, 1977 the City became aware of dangerous and hazardous gasoline and fumes in the sump and storm sewers surrounding the Metropolitan Hall of Justice; and WHEREAS, upon notification and request, Mountain Fuel Supply Co. through Mr. B. Z. Kastler authorized Mr. Clair Coleman to assign specially trained personnel equipped with gas detection devices to detect and monitor the flamable vapors in the entire area and in the storm sewers leading to the Jordan River; and WHEREAS, many of Mountain Fuel's said employees worked diligently and overtime in continuing constant surveillance during the four critical days following July 26; and WHEREAS, the Board of City Commissioners and the residents of Salt Lake City owe Mountain Fuel and its employees a debt of gratitude for their faithful and selfless service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY that the Board does hereby express to Mountain Fuel Supply Co. on behalf of itself and the residents of Salt Lake City, their sincere appreciation and gratitude for the devoted and capable service rendered.
