TO THE FAMILY OF THOMAS L. HALL
WHEREAS, the entire City of Salt Lake was saddened to learn of the
death of Commissioner Thomas L. Hall, a man of unique humanity who was

cation served as Deputy City Auditor for approximately eleven years; and
WHEREAS, he had successfully run a campaign and was elected as a
Salt Lake City Commissioner, commencing his first term of office in
January, 1978; and
WHEREAS, he was known as a remarkable individual and universally
respected among all those with whom he came in contact because of his
sincere interest, love and concern for others; and
WHEREAS, he distinguished himself through his years of service in
his beloved church, his varied occupational experiences and his
community service; and
WHEREAS, he possessed a unique combination of firm personal convic-
tions; yet, he tempered these strong personal beliefs with compassion
and unwaivering toleration for other's beliefs, so as to make himself a
most agreeable and respected companion; and
WHEREAS, he practiced stringent self control and denial to achieve
a dedication to duty and responsibility which earned him heroes metals
in military service and saw him sitting at the desk of duty, even though
so gravely ill and in quiet pain as to require assistance to walk; and
WHEREAS, his warm humanity, conviction, sense of duty, and open
affection for humanity made him a living example of how to live and to
pass from this mortal existence;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of City Commissioners on their behalf,
on the behalf of the employees of Salt Lake City Corporation and of all
-2-
of the residents of this City extend their deepest felt condolences
in the loss of this exemplary human being, who will ever live in the
memories of those who knew him as a personification of the true
principles of the christian faith to which he was so fondly devoted.
By this Resolution, may the family be comforted with the knowledge
that we share in their sense of loss, but likewise share in their
knowledge and confidence that no evil or harm can come to such a man
in the Hereafter. May the family be ever comforted and receive warm
solace from the fond memories of his life, so well lived, and the
legacy of a reputation so richly deserved. _
