RESULT
RESOLUTION .
VHEREAS, Application has heretofore been made by Ben%zon &
Holm for a license to sell liquor at retail in the building known
as No. 227 South State Street in Salt Lake City, and a number of
protests of business men and property owners in the vicinity hairs
been made to the Board of Commissioners, and the Board having, on
the 7th day of January, 1913, given a public hearing to the appli-
cants and to the protestants ; and
VHEREAS, It appears to the Board that the block in which the
said premises are located now contains a large number of saloons ,
more than sufficient to supply the needs of said locality for in-
toxicants, and that the said premises are near to a large retail
district of this city greatly frequented by women and children at
all times of the day, and that the number of saloons in said neigh-
borhood should be decreased rather than increased. and that steps
ate to be taken by property owners in the said neighborhood to
reduce still further the number of saloons therein, and it further
appe°_ring that the building above the premises where the said
license is applied for has had and now has a bad reputation to
such an extent that it becomes particularly undesirable that a
saloon should be located on the ground floor of the said building:
NOr' TH?'RT?PORE, Be it resolved by the Board of Commissioners
of Salt Lake City that the said application of Ben zon & Holm for
a liquor license at No. 227 South State Street be denied.
